Monarch remote sensors are available in a number of models that are compatible with their
lines of tachometers and stroboscopes. Before ordering, check the datasheets to ensure specific models
are compatible.
The remote optical sensor is a versatile and popular sensor. It is constructed of threaded stainless steel
and has a visible red LED light source and green LED ‘On Target’ indicator. Performs over a wide speed
range (1-250,000 RPM) and operating envelope. Modulated and High Temperature versions available
(to 257°F). The remote optical sensor includes a mounting bracket, an 8′ cable and 12″ of reflective tape.
It is available with a 1/8″ phone plug connection or tinned wire leads.
The magnetic sensor is the most popular sensor for use with 60 tooth 20 pitch gears. The magnetic sensor
mounts within 0.005 inches (0.127 mm) of a minimum 0.1 inch (2.5 mm) target. This sensor requires no
power from the display module and self generates an AC signal. The magnetic sensor is for speeds ranging
from 1 to 99,999 RPM. The magnetic sensor includes an 8′ cable and is available with a 1/8″ phone plug
connection or tinned wire leads.
This sensor combines a standard magnetic sensor with an amplifier for improved performance. The amplifier
extends operating gap to 0.25 inches (6.35 mm) from the target. It is frequently used on gears as the M-190,
but can also sense bolt heads or shaft keys and provides a 0-5V TTL output signal. The magnetic sensor with
amplifier is for speeds between 1 and 99,999 RPM and includes the sensor, amplifier and 8′ of cable. It is
available with a 1/8″ phone plug connection or tinned wire leads.
The PS-12 proximity sensor is a three wire threaded IP67 metal sensor outputs an open collector PNP pulse.
Operates at a 0.15 inch (4mm) gap with a .45 inch (12mm)target. Includes red LED on target indicator.
The P5-11 proximity sensor is a two wire probe style inductive sensor for use up to 0.2 inches (5 mm) from 0.5 inch
(12 mm) metallic target such as bolt head or shaft locking key. It can measure speeds from 1 to 60,000 RPM.
It includes a 6′ cable.
The infrared sensor is the ideal sensor for working 0.5 to 1.0 inch (12 to 25mm) from high speed equipment or
other applications providing only contrasting light and dark surfaces or beam interruption by solid objects. It is
capable of speeds from 1 to 999,999 RPM. The infrared sensor includes a mounting bracket, 8′ of cable and is
available with a 1/8″ phone plug connection or tinned wire leads.
A non-contact electromagnetic inductive sensor designed for making RPM measurements on gasoline engines. The sensor will detect the high voltage
flux field being induced from ignition coils or magnetos on 2 or 4 cycle gasoline engines. The sensor will detect the electromagnetic flux field
through metal engine covers. The GE200 HP must be connected to the Monarch amplifier module which provides input power and a TTL pulse output.
The GE200 HP includes an integral 15 foot (5m) cable and can be mounted up to 12 inches (30 cm) away from the ignition coil or magneto. To find
the optimal mounting position, simply move the sensor around the high voltage flux source until the display on your tachometer indicates a steady RPM reading.
